Alpha Lipoic Acid The body uses it to produce energy and for basic metabolic functions. ALA has been called "the universal antioxidant" because it can neutralize free radicals in all cells and reduce the effects of oxidation which damages the cardiovascular system. ALA stimulates production of glutathione, an antioxidant which is produced by the body and helps reduce the damage from oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is associated with a number of diseases including, heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

What is Alpha Lipoic Acid/ L-Carnitine?
They are two naturally occurring substances that provide significant health benefits for cardiac health. L-Carnitine is responsible for helping the body convert fatty acids into energy. When the body turns fat into energy, it produces waste products. Alpha Lipoic Acid then eliminates these wastes. It may also reduce the extent of cardiac cell damage following a heart attack and support glucose metabolism in diabetics. Click for more about Dr. Surkin's WELLCOR CONTROL. What is Omega 3?
Omega 3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA found in fish oils) have been shown to reduce cardiac dysfunction by supporting blood flow and viscosity. A large European study demonstrated that when taken along with a standard medical regimen after a heart attack, Omega 3 fatty acids reduce the risk of a subsequent one. Click for Dr. Surkin's formulation which contains higher levels of EPA and DHA to create a more effective supplement, WELLCOR DEFENSE & DEFENSE PLUS.
